The Drivers (Japanese: ザ•ドライバーズ, Thai: เดอะ ไดร์ฟเวอร์ส) is a Thai pop rock band debuted in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, Japan in 2016.

The band consists of Drive (Vocal, Guitar), Dew (Vocal, Keyboard), and Prow (Manager, Sound Ambient and Visual). The band released their first album in 2018 with Maruzen records.

Before the band debuted as the artist with their original songs, The band originally form in 2010 as a cover band The Drivers has been knowing as international cover band with quite much reputation since they have experienced of covering songs of 1960s and 1970s for years.

The music styles are combining the sound of soft rock, retro music, progressive and psychedelic mixed together with Thai instruments. Three members write, compose and produce their own music together.

2010 Formation[edit]

In 2010 the band was formed by 2 brothers Drive and Dew and 3 of their childhood friends. They started to cover songs from 60’s and 70’s. They had performed in so many famous clubs in Thailand for years which brought them were well known as the young generation band who performed oldies style. In 2015, the band was performing at the press conference for ‘The Beatles 1+ As you have never seen them before’ event at Central world, Bangkok where the band met Prow who was the press in that time. As they had got a similarity in music style made Prow, Drive and Dew stayed in touch since the first met.

2016 Debut in Japan, Baby Come My Way[edit]

In early of 2016, Prow left the company and decided to be a manager of the band same time as the 3 members left the band and replaced by Nap as a bassist and Man as a Drummer. The band started to make their own songs and began to perform in live houses in Tokyo.

In August of 2016, The band was the only band from South East Asia who was selected to perform at ‘the International beatleweek 2016’ in Liverpool, England. At the same year, the band was a representative from Thailand to perform in ‘Maritime Silk Road Music Festival 2016’ Ningbo, China.

In 2018, The Drivers signed with Maruzen Record, indie music label in Tokyo and distributed by Ultravybe. The band officially launched their first album ‘Baby Come My Way’ at their album release party at basement Bar in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.

The band had been touring in Japan for 2 years Nap and Man decided to step down as the band supporter in Thailand meanwhile, the band got 2 Japanese supporters, Takashi on drum and Yoshida on Bass (Sometimes replaced by Naoto). The band officially has 2 sets of supporters under the management of Prow.

The Drivers have been touring around Japan and Thailand to promote their first album. The Drivers performed in many great music festivals and events in Asia; such as ‘Wonderfriut” a national music and art festival in Thailand. They were the only international band to perform at ‘Shimokitazawa Nite festival 2017’ in Tokyo and ‘Nanko Music festival 2018’ in Osaka, Japan.

2019 One More Cigarette[edit]

The second album ‘One More Cigarette’ with the sound of late 1970s called Yacht rock which is one of the origin roots of City Pop. All songs except the first track, One More Cigarette, were recorded at the Studio A, Wirral, United Kingdom. The Drivers worked for this album with 4 English co-producers who are working in The Cavern Club and British Music Experience Museum.

The second album first released in Japan on 19 July 2019 at their album release party together with first appearance at the Tower Record Shinjuku, Tokyo.

2021 Three members, Single ‘Never Apart’[edit]

In 2020 the band was more focusing on performance show, Drive and Dew decided to put Prow as the third member to play the ambient sound and visual.  They keep on making the songs without any boundaries in music genre and the style.
