The Ghost Club is an alternative rock/synth-pop band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1][2][3][4] The current lineup includes lead singer and keyboardist Domenic Dunegan, guitarist Zack Leya, bassist Logan Casper, and drummer Stephen Kraus.[5] The band's style has been compared to Panic! at the Disco and I Dont Know How But They Found Me,[3][6] and group members have also cited influences including The 1975 and Twenty One Pilots.[7]

History[edit]

The band was originally formed as a solo project by singer Domenic Dunegan[8] - the name "The Ghost Club" arose from Dunegan’s frustration with finding the right musicians to play with.[1] In 2016, Dunegan's father took him to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform live as part of The River Tour, and he has later cited this as a transformative moment that caused him to consider a career in music.[1][2][5][9] He started to write and record songs of his own, eventually taking them to multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated record producer/audio engineer/songwriter Matt Squire[2] (Ariana Grande, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Demi Lovato) after reaching out to Squire over Facebook,[10] and together the pair created enough material for The Ghost Club’s first batch of singles as well as its first EP.[11] Released independently,[10] these songs were able to find a wide audience of listeners,[2][3][12] largely thanks to the music video for single "Same Graves" going viral on Reddit.[1][13][14] To create the follow-up in 2020, Dunegan partnered with producer Eric Palmquist[15] (Bad Suns, Thrice, Mutemath), with Dunegan playing every instrument except drums.[1][11][16]

In July 2021, The Ghost Club announced via social media that they had signed a distribution deal with Repost by SoundCloud.[17][18] A full band was subsequently formed around this same time in order to begin performing live, finally seeing its debut on December 4, 2021 in Piitsburgh.[1][5][16][19]
