The Grove is a shopping center in Downers Grove, Illinois that was built in 1986. It features Petco, The Room Place and other stores. Originally a semi-enclosed outdoor mall, it was converted into a simple open strip center in 2002.

The Grove opened in 1986 anchored by Sears Outlet, TJMaxx and Service Merchandise as its main anchors as well as Builders Square, and Cub Foods on an extension. This mall also had two half anchors Saxon and F&M. Toys "R" Us would be added on to the west end three years later. Outparcels included Highland Superstores, a Cineplex Odeon theater and Carpetland U.S.A. Barnes & Noble would be added in 1995.

The mall functioned as a hybrid outlet mall/lifestyle center featuring mostly outlets of popular brands at the time as well as discount sellers and dollar stores. Occupancy was strong until the mid 1990's when many tenants on the interior part started moving out due to lack of practical signage. The Sears Outlet would close and become Harlem Furniture (now called the RoomPlace) in 1995. Service Merchandise would leave in 2002 due to bankruptcy. The location was subdivided and became Grant's Appliances and Petco after demolition.

In 2002, the front part of The Grove was demolished to convert the center into a simple open air strip mall. Renovations on the facade would be completed in 2005 to update the center to a more modern look.

In 2017, Ultra Foods closed to the public.[1] The Shopping Center went up for sale weeks later.[2] In June 2018, Toys R Us closed all locations as part of bankruptcy.[3] In Autumn 2018, Marshalls closed its store at The Grove and moved to the Willowbrook Town Center in Willowbrook, Illinois.

As of 2019, plans have been made to do a complete redo of the facade as part of a plan to revive the center.[4]
