The HAARP Machine are a progressive metal band from London.

History[edit]

Al Mu'min started a musical project and composed and recorded demos from 2007 to 2009. These demos gained some attention, but went unnoticed by most. Things soon charged once Mu'min contacted Dan Foord (SikTh) in autumn of 2009 to session on an EP he planned to release to get people’s attention and give the music a chance. This collaboration worked and soon people started to listen. He now had something to attract serious musicians and finally solidify a line-up. However, Foord decided not to be part of a full-time band and Mu'min had to search for a replacement, which led him to Craig Reynolds (Viatrophy). He contacted him and Reynolds decided to start playing with the band.

The band itself was formed in 2011, in London, England, by Al Mu'min (guitar), Oliver Rooney (Bass), Craig Reynolds (Drums) and Michael Semesky (vocals), and quickly began recording its debut album which was supposed to be released by late 2011.

In 2012 the single "Pleadian Keys" was released right before the full album Disclosure came out. Right after its release the band began touring along other Sumerian bands and playing in festivals. The drummer, Alex Rüdinger, joined the band during this tours. They participated in tours around Europe and the United States.

On 25 January 2013 it was announced that they'd broken up. It is not known well what happened and most of the reasons heard are rumors, but in the end, Al Mu'min had to create a new lineup, at least for the tours, and continue the concerts and tours by his own, as for the rest: Alex Rüdinger joined The Faceless and Mike Semesky joined Intervals.

For the tours from 2013 to 2015 the lineup was: Mu'min (guitar), John Gillen (drums), Nicholas Llerandi (guitars) and Chris Barretto (ex-Periphery and Monuments) as a vocalist. An unknown track was shown on the bands' Facebook page on December 1.

During 2016, the future of the band was a mystery, until announcements for a guitarist and drummer wanted were released through the same page on August 1 and August 28 respectively.

On February 6, 2017, a playthrough video was released of a song abbreviated "LP2" (as the full name is a mystery) which is the first song of the new album that has been shown.
