The Law of Innocence is the 35th novel by American author Michael Connelly and his sixth to feature Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller. The book was published in the United States in 2020.
The novel follows Mickey Haller as he defends himself on charges of murder.[1]
The book also features Harry Bosch, as well as people who Haller has defended in the past.
While the novel a work of fiction, it is centered on the complex issues and distinctions between guilt and innocence, as well as on the criminal justice system's myriad strengths and weaknesses.
Some of the legal themes that are highlighted in the novel are that of attorney-client privilege, the right to a speedy trial, as well as the right to represent oneself in court.
