The Małopolska School of Public Administration of the Cracow University of Economics (MSPA CUE or, its Polish acronym: MSAP UEK) – a unit of the Cracow University of Economics – carries out research and applications, consulting, educational (postgraduate studies, training) and publishing activities. In cooperation with domestic and foreign partners, it implements application projects aimed at enhancing the activities of local government and government administrations. Within the framework of MSAP UEK operates  the Centre for Public Policies of the Cracow University of Economics.

In order to meet the needs of institutions in the administrative and public economy sectors, the Cracow University of Economics decided to establish a Centre for Economic and Public Administration Studies in 1996. By decision of the University Senate, in 1997 the Centre was transformed into the Małopolska School of Public Administration of the Cracow University of Economics (MSAP UEK).

The aim of MSAP UEK is to influence the socio-economic development of Małopolska region (voivodeship), the nation and regions of Europe by improving the quality of public policies, improving the functioning of public administration and improving the competitiveness and innovation of local and regional economies.

Postgraduate [3][edit]

The Małopolska School of Public Administration of the Cracow University of Economics pursues many fields of postgraduate studies in public administration and local government economics, conscious leadership and managerial psychology, management of projects, management of cultural and natural heritage, revitalization of urban areas. Among the most popular programs are:

  • Management in public administration,
  • Administration
  • Heritage Academy (in cooperation with the International Cultural Centre).

In cooperation with national and foreign partners, MSAP UEK realizes application projects aimed at improving the activities of local and state governments. The most important projects concern the development and implementation of programs for improving public administration governance, local and regional development, the creation of financial institutions for local development, international cooperation between local authorities, communication and social participation. Selected projects completed and implemented (alone or in cooperation with other entities):

  • DOBRE – Decentralization Offering Better Results and Efficiency,
  • INCASIS – Institutional Capacity for Assessing the Impact of Structural Funds,
  • MUS – Learning Ministries (pol. Ministerstwa Uczące Się),
  • PRI – Institutional Development Program (pol. Program Rozwoju Instytucjonalnego),
  • REV 4.0 – Socio-economic consequences of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (pol. Społeczno-gospodarcze konsekwencje czwartej rewolucji przemysłowej),
  • TRATOKI – Instruments to support micro-entrepreneurship – international experiences,
  • In search of a Polish model of social economy (pol. W poszukiwaniu polskiego modelu ekonomii społecznej).

Publisher [5][edit]

MSAP UEK publishes monographs, academic textbooks, guides, research reports and training materials, as well as information and promotional materials. The offer of the publishing house also includes two scientific periodicals:

  • Quarterly " Public Governance” (pol. “Zarządzanie Publiczne"), in partnership with Scholar Scientific Publishing House) – published since 2007, addressed to researchers and public affairs management experts; magazine scored according to the Polish Ministry of Education and Science list – 20 points,
  • Semi-annual “Social Economy” (pol. "Ekonomia Społeczna") – a journal addressed to researchers and experts working in the field of social economy, whose recipients are also public policymakers and representatives of the social sector interested in the possibilities of practical application of the idea of management not only for profit, but also for the purpose of achieving social benefits.
