The New Federal State of China is a self-declared government in exile of China created by Guo Wengui and Stephen Bannon. The state was announced in June 2020 by aircraft flying banners over US cities including New York.[1][2] Former Chinese football star Hao Haidong was also involved in reading the declaration of the state,[3] as was his wife, the retired badminton star Ye Zhaoqing.[4] Announcement of the state was designed to coincide with the anniversary of the Tiananmen square massacre, the sole purpose of the state was described as being to "overthrow the Chinese government".[5]

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesman stated in response to questions for comment on the declaration “To these absurd statements, to this farce, I don’t have any interest in commenting”.[6]
