Following the release of his debut record, Tell Me, the album was independently released on March 13, 2020. The album was proceeded by three singles, Goodbye, All the Time and Could You. Sean announced that the album would be a loosely-based concept album, and that it would follow a chronological story. The record was recorded in Sean's home studio, alongside longtime friend Evan Volkman and his brother, Noah Volkman. Sean was the sole writer on the record, and was the lead producer as well.

Background and Release[edit]

In November of 2019, Kennedy announced he would be releasing one more song before the end of the decade. [1] On December 20th, Goodbye was released.[2] The song was a mid tempo ballad, following Sean leaving a toxic relationship. Goodbye was reminiscent of Sean's earlier work, with a piano lead and warm synths. On January 10, 2020, Sean announced that the official lead single from his upcoming second album would be released on January 24th. [3]. The song was described as sweet, and lighthearted. [4] The song follows Sean as he tries to build up courage to talk to someone[5], and stated that the song's themes would continue throughout his second record.[6]

All the Time is the beginning phase of meeting this person. The tracks continue to follow the story of falling in love with someone, and eventually getting your heart broken, but in the end finding yourself and learning that you'll fall in love many times again.[6]

Following All the Time, Kennedy announced that his second album would be released on March 13th, 2020, and that the final single would be released on February 21, 2020. [7] Sean said that Could You was the first song written for the album, and one of the first love songs he'd ever written.[8] The One was released on March 13, 2020, with Sean stating that it follows him "learning some pretty important lessons". [9]
