The Origin of Spider-Man

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Origin of Spider-Man is the 21st episode of the 1967 animated series Spider-Man, which aired on September 14, 1968.

Story

Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive spider while observing a radiation experiment at Empire State University. Feeling unwell, he steps outside, only to be confronted by two thugs. However, when he instinctively throws a punch, he shatters a streetlight, realizing something strange has happened to him. Later, as he nearly gets hit by a car, he leaps away and discovers that he can climb walls. Aware of his newfound spider-like abilities, Peter invents a web-shooter and begins swinging between buildings.

Hoping to use his powers to make money, Peter secures a television appearance. However, during his performance, he witnesses a thief escaping. Choosing to ignore it, he thinks, "It’s not my problem."

Upon returning home, Peter is devastated to learn that his Uncle Ben has been murdered by a robber. Overcome with rage and sorrow, he dons his Spider-Man costume and tracks the criminal to a warehouse near the harbor, where they face off.

After subduing the criminal, Peter is horrified to discover that it is the same thief he had let escape earlier.

Realizing that "with great power there must also always be great responsibility," Peter vows to use his abilities for good, dedicating himself to fighting crime as Spider-Man.
