The Princess Bride is an upcoming musical based on the novel of the same name. The music and lyrics were written by David Yazbek with a book by Bob Martin and Rick Elice.

Development[edit]

In November 2013, Disney Theatrical Productions announced that they would adapt a stage musical adaptation of The Princess Bride.[1][2] In February 2014, the official website for the broadway musical was launched, detailing new updates.[3] In August 2014, Disney announced they will still committed to adapt The Princess Bride into a stage musical.[4] In 2016, Rob Reiner said the project was still in development despite "roadblocks" and that Marc Shaiman, Randy Newman and John Mayer had all been approached to write songs, but had turned them down.[5] In May 2020, Bob Martin and Rick Elice were hired to write the book, with songs by David Yazbek.[6][7][8]
