The Projection People is a progressive rock band from Madison, Wisconsin. Founded by Kevin McDonnell, Marc Claggett, Tyler Commo, and Joe Ramos in 2007 as a recording project, the group expanded on to the live scene with Brad Hawes and Scott Cannaday of Revolving Doors after Ramos’ departure, and have since established themselves in the Madison rock music scene with three EPs and two full-length releases. Their sound incorporates influences of progressive rock, pop, electronic, r&b, and trip-hop.

The Projection People (2008–2010)[edit]
In 2010, the band released their self-titled debut album, The Projection People, an effort which took over 2 years to complete. The album was self-produced, engineered, and mixed with assistance on percussion engineering from Chris Shepard (Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, KMFDM) at Chicago Recording Company.[1][2] The album was selected by the Isthmus as Best Madison Album of 2010[3] and went on to win Electronic Album of the Year and Electronic Song of the Year for “Headlights” at the 2011 Madison Area Music Awards. Despite the fact that the band considers themselves a rock band that incorporates elements of electronic music (through use of synthesizers, limited sequencing, and guitar pedals), they were also named Electronic Performer of the Year at the MAMAs.[4]
The Blast House Sessions (2010-2011)[edit]
In late 2010 the band released the Blast House Sessions EP as a thank-you to Mike Olson and his work for the Madison music scene. The three-song release features two new originals (“Ordinary Lines” and “An Image To Ignore”) as well as a remix of “Headlights” by drummer Brad Hawes’ side project, Black Jack Red Queen. The EP was engineered by Dustin Sisson and the band, and a majority of the instruments were recorded at Blast House Studios in Madison, WI.[5]
The release of the EP marked the departure of Scott Cannaday and Kevin McDonnell from the live line-up though McDonnell remains a key songwriting contributor.
In 2011 the band added Ryan Lammey to the line-up and began writing and recording the follow-up to The Projection People. On July 13, 2011, the band posted a montage of new songs they are working on called "We're Writing. Here's Proof". Currently the band has no plans for live performances.
Cloudbathing (2012-Present)[edit]
On November 27, 2012, the band posted a single called "Skin On Our Toes" and announced plans for a new album.[6] On November 30, 2012, the band performed on stage for the first time since July 16, 2010.
On July 18th, 2018, the band announced the release of their second album Cloudbathing, via Twitter, with the lead-off single being the title track. It was released on July 23rd, 2018.[7] The album was written and recorded by the band members in different parts of the United States.[8]
