The Spares

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Spares is an alt-country, Americana duo from Chicago, Illinois. Jodee Lewis, a chemical engineer from Missouri and Steve Hendershot, a journalist from Michigan, formed The Spares in 2004. They released their first album, "Hand Me Down" in 2005.[1] The Spares have 5 CDs released by Tweed Records.

According to their official website,[2] The Spares' music is "hauntingly gorgeous" (Maverick Magazine), "simple, aching and hearty" (NewCity Chicago) and "somewhere in heaven between Gram Parsons and Alison Krauss" (Smother Magazine). Their music has been compared to the sounds of Alison Krauss & Union Station, and Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons.[3]

The Spares have toured throughout the Midwest. Jodee and Steve are frequently joined in the studio and on the road by Troy Bartholomew on drums, Jason Reed on mandolin, and Doug Zylstra on bass.[4]

The Spares will release their fifth album, "Everything is Easy" in mid-August 2010.[5]
