This book is a work that lies between history and the novel that Abdulrahman Munif coordinated all conditions of the place in which he lived his childhood, from people’s relationships, joy and pain. In addition, the book also represented a historic document of both the cultural and political situation specifically in Oman in 1940s. However, it is documented with the names of places and characters despite his eagerness to be both non-historical and non-fiction.[1][2]
“The Story of a City” focuses on the life of Abdulrahman Munif and people around him, especially his grandmother who remained the living link between him and Iraq.
In the beginning of 2004, this work was known in its late editions. In addition to the diagrams that the author drew for his characters is unique. Moreover, this experience was celebrated by his friend, the Iraqi painter Marwan Qassab Bachi. [3]
