The Teencats
The Teencats are a new wave rockabilly band which formed in Norway in 1984 and continue to record and perform around the world. They became part of the early 1980s rockabilly revival music scene which embraced an entirely new generation of rockabilly-inspired groups such as Stray Cats, Robert Gordon, The Polecats and The Blasters.
Biography
The band was founded by brothers Stig Rune and Stein-Erik Reiten, Ove Marken and Lars Harald Volta. In 1986, Volta was replaced by bassist Esten Graffsrönningen.
With help from a renewed interest in rockabilly music and the British subculture movement known as Teddy Boy, The Teencats signed international recording contracts in 1984 with Rockhouse Records and Sonet Records, the pop and rock record label operating as an imprint of Universal Music Sweden. As a result of their hard work and support from the record companies, The Teencats have toured the width and breadth of Europe, in addition to Japan, the United States and Australia. The Teencats have released five studio albums, in addition to ten singles, one compilation CD and four music videos aired on MTV Europe, which is currently known as MTV Global.
