Boppin’B are a German rock and roll band founded in Aschaffenburg in 1985. The band's stylistic roots are in rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly of the 1950s. They also integrate elements from Ska, Swing, Punk and Pop. Boppin’B have played over 5000 concerts and sold over 100,000 albums to date.[2][3][4]

Musical career

Boppin'B was originally put together by guitarist Golo Sturm and drummer Thomas Weiser[5][6] for a one-off performance at a school festival at their high school. Both have played together in different formations for years. Former classmate Dirk Hartmann, who appeared as a member of a rockabilly band (Blue Moon Boys) in the Aschaffenburg district, was brought in as lead singer. Uli Monjau from the same school year joined them as bass player. After the successful appearance as "Boppin 'Bunny & The Be Bop Boys", the decision was made to continue together as a band.[7]

Their first official appearance followed in late autumn 1985 in what was then Aschaffenburg's “Irish Pub” under the new band name “Boppin 'B.”. Over time, more and more appearances were added, and the band earned increasingly good reputations. In 1989 the group founded an independent label in the Rhein-Main area with "VAMP-Records", which released their first LP Bee-Bop. This laid the foundation for a career that lasted decades, becoming known as an energetic live band.

In 2005, Boppin’B opened for Dick Brave & the Backbeats[8], which gave them another boost in popularity. They recorded an entire album of Sasha hits (including If You Believe and We Can Leave The World)[9] in rockabilly style, which was also listed in the German music charts at 39[10]. In February 2020 the band released their current album We Don't Care.[11]
