The ThreeFiveSevens
The ThreeFiveSevens are an American indie rock band from Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago area. Formed in the early 2010s, the band has released recorded music independently and has received coverage from international music blogs and podcasts.
History
The ThreeFiveSevens were formed in Northwest Indiana by guitarist and vocalist Thomas Lane and bassist Joseph Cardwell. The band’s name references the symbolic three, five, and seven steps of the Middle Chamber in Masonic tradition. Following Cardwell’s departure, the project continued with several lineup changes.
Drummer Wendy Whitmore later joined the band, and subsequent activity was organized under Pugrocker Productions, an independent production entity associated with members of the group. The lineup expanded over time as the band continued recording and performing in the regional music scene.
In September 2016, members of The ThreeFiveSevens were featured on the podcast and website X-Oriente in an episode titled “Masonry Rocks!”. The episode included an interview with Thomas Lane and Eve Bottando and discussed the band’s music, influences, thematic concepts, and the release of their debut album.[1]
Music and reception
The band released its debut album, Little Wishes, in 2016. The album was distributed digitally and in physical CD format.[2]
The single “She’s Gonna Run” received coverage from international music blogs. The Greek music site Give It A Spin published a review of the song in October 2016, describing it as part of the band’s debut output and noting its stylistic influences.[3]
The French-based music site djolo.net featured the band’s music video for “She’s Gonna Run” in a 2016 international music roundup, characterizing the group’s sound as direct and uncompromising rock music.[4]
In 2017, the UK-based blog The Devil Has the Best Tuna included the band’s music video “Witch” in a weekly curated roundup of new releases.[5]
The band’s 2018 single “Lord Knows” was featured on the German music blog Dark Life Experience, which described the group’s genre-blending approach and highlighted the accompanying music video.[6]
Performances
The ThreeFiveSevens performed at venues throughout the greater Chicago area. The band appeared at the now-closed Mutiny punk club in Chicago, a venue known for hosting independent and underground music acts prior to its closure.
