The Three Little Bass and the Big Bad Gar is a children's picture book written by James Miller, illustrated by Kris Taft Miller, and first published in 2019. The story is a second comically aquatic version of the classic fable "The Three Little Pigs".

Plot[edit]

The story begins with the title characters being sent out into the world by their parents, to "seek out their fortune". The first little bass builds a house of mud, the second little bass builds a house of tubes and the third little bass builds a house of stone. When the little fishes are living separated in their houses, an alligator gar destroys the house of mud and the house of tubes, he eats the first and second little bass, but the gar fails to destroy house of stone. While the gar pretends to give up and go home, the third little bass who owns the stone house calls a fisherman's hook to protect him from the predator. Finally the infuriated gar returns and resolves to swim down the chimney trying to devour the third little bass, but the predator is hooked by the fisherman and presumably becomes his food, avenging the death of the final fish's brothers. After hooking the gar, the bass starts to have a happy life forever.
