The Wind-Up Bird was the musical project Jeff Smith (formerly of Jeromes Dream) and Joseph Grimm (formerly a member of the band 33.3 and brother of Larkin Grimm). A track from the 2003 album Whips received an 8.5 out of 10 review at Pitchfork Media. While Smith appears on early releases and toured with the band initially, he eventually stopped performing live, and The Wind-Up Bird became Grimm's solo project.
