The Wind-Up Bird was the musical project of Jeff Smith (formerly of Jeromes Dream) and Joseph Grimm (formerly a member of the band 33.3 and brother of Larkin Grimm). A track from the 2003 album *Whips* received an 8.5 out of 10 review at Pitchfork Media. While Smith appears on early releases and toured with the band initially, he eventually stopped performing live, and The Wind-Up Bird became Grimm's solo project.
