The Wonder Soul Style

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Wonder Soul Style is a defunct band formed in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo. In 1998 performed monthly at Shimokitazawa GARAGE.[1]

The band signed with the Hit & Run label under Sony Music. Japanese pop and rock was changing, reflected in their music and that of other contemporary Western infused acts such as Puffy AmiYumi, SPARKS GOGO, Unicorn (Japanese band), and detroit7.[2]

While the band later departed Hit & Run after only one single and album, their musical style contributed to the next wave of Japanese music that emerged in the mid-1990s. They continued as an independent act, with their final album "5 NITE FLASHBAX" released in 2004.[3]

The final performance of The Wonder Soul Style took place at Shimokitazawa GARAGE on May 8, 2005.[4]
