Thierry Serge Darlan (born 3 February 2004) is a Central African basketball player who currently plays for the NBA Academy Africa and the Central African Republic national team. He stands at 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) and plays as small forward or point guard.

Early career[edit]

Born in Bangui, Darlan joined the NBA Academy Africa at an early age. He was the MVP of the 2022 Basketball Without Borders Africa camp in Egypt.[1]

In April 2022, Darlan joined Angolan club Petro de Luanda of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) under the league's Elevate program.[2] At age 18, he joined the team as an amateur player through the NBA Academy.[3] Darlan played in 3 games and was on the roster that reached the 2022 BAL Finals.[4]

In the same year, in November 2022, Darlan and the NBA Academy played in the Road to BAL 2023 where they faced professional teams from across the continent. He averaged a team-high 22 points per game, as well as 5.7 assists per game, helping the academy win two out of three games.[5]

National team career[edit]

Darlan made his debut for the Central African Republic national team at age 18 in July 2022 during the third round of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers, scoring 12 points in the game against Guinea.[6]

Personal[edit]

Serge is the grandson of Jean Pascal Darlan and the cousin of Bruno Darlan, who both were basketball players.[7]
