ThinkMarkets Limited is an online brokerage firm based in Melbourne, Australia. Nauman Anees is the incumbent chief executive officer of the company.[1]

ThinkMarkets was founded in 2010 by Nauman Anees and Faizan Anees. Their main trading platform, ThinkTrader, helps clients trade cryptocurrencies, CFDs, commodities, indices, futures, forex, and in certain markets, cash equities.[2]

The company currently holds licenses in Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and additionally gained both Cycec regulation in Europe and granted license to operate in the Japanese FX Market by the JFSA in early 2022.[3][4]

As of July 2020, there were 43,000 active users globally.[5]

ThinkForex, later renamed as ThinkMarkets, started its operations in 2010 as a forex broker in Auckland, New Zealand.[6] It was founded by American-born brothers, Nauman Anees and Faizan Anees.[3]

In 2012, the company relocated its headquarters to Melbourne, Australia to improve client security under ASIC regulation.[6]

In 2015, the company received regulatory approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to operate in the United Kingdom (UK).[6]

In July 2016, ThinkForex renamed itself as ThinkMarkets.[7]

In 2017, the company acquired a mobile trading platform named Trader Inceptor for an undisclosed amount.[3]

In March 2019, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) granted ThinkMarkets a licence to operate in South Africa.[4]

In April 2021, ThinkMarkets launched their platform, ThinkTrader, in South Africa. Through ThinkTrader, clients can invest in equities, ETFs, and ETNs traded on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.[8]

In August 2021, the company agreed a new global partnership, concluding 2023, with the Premier League club, Liverpool FC, as Official Global Trading Partner.[9]

In February 2022, the company secured a $30 million investment from Mars Growth Capital, a joint venture between MUFG Bank and Liquidity Capital.[10]
