Colonel Thomas G. Falzarano was a military officer in the United States Air Force. He passed away in May 2020[1][2], survived by his wife and five children. Colonel Falzarano was the Commander of the 21st Space Wing, which was based at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. He led a workforce of about 4,300 space professionals worldwide who provided missile warning and defense, space situational awareness, and space control for combat forces and the national command authorities of the United States and Canada. In addition to commanding Peterson AFB and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, he also provided base support for Clear AFS, Alaska; Cavalier AFS, North Dakota; Cape Cod AFS, Massachusetts; and Thule Air Base, Greenland.
Colonel Falzarano graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1994 and had a career that spanned space, missile, fighter, and mobility units. He also served in joint assignments on the staff of the Multi-National Force-Iraq at the US Embassy in the International Zone, Baghdad and on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon. Before becoming the Commander of the 21st Space Wing, he served as the executive officer to the Commander of the Air Force Space Command and the Joint Force Space Component Command.
Colonel Falzarano had an extensive educational background, which included earning a Bachelor of Science from the US Air Force Academy, a Master of Science Degree in Management from Troy State University, and a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
Throughout his career, Colonel Falzarano held several assignments, including Squadron Section Commander, Chief of Milstar Mobile Operations and Group Inspection Analysis, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Combat Crew Commander, and Chief of Satellite Command and Control Operations Inspections, among others. Colonel Falzarano received numerous awards and decorations during his career, including the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, and the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters.[3]
