Thota Chandrashekhar (te: తోట చంద్రశేఖర్) is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and politician from the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. He served in various capacities during his 21 years in the IAS. He was appointed as the president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Andhra Pradesh on 2 January 2023,[1] after leaving the Jana Sena Party.[2]

Early life and education

Thota was born in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. His father is Thota Rama Rao, and he is related to P. V. Narasimha Rao.[3] In 1977, he obtained a Secondary School Certificate, and a high school degree in 1979, issued by Hindu College. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science from AC College at Acharya Nagarjuna University in 1982, a Master of Science in 1984 from Andhra University, and a doctorate from Bombay University in 2000.[4]

Career

Thota served as the municipal commissioner of Mumbai from May 1997 to May 2000.

He lost a bid for a representative seat in the Lok Sabha for Andhra Pradesh in the 2009 Indian general election.[3]
