It would mark the third collaboration between the trio following Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022).[2] Ajith was reported to be playing dual roles in the film.[3] Principal photography began on 11 April at Hyderabad,[4][5] and Manju Warrier signed on as the lead actress a month later.[6] A set of Mount Road was erected in Hyderabad.[7] The team successfully completed the first schedule at Hyderabad by 10 June 2022.[8] The title Thunivu was announced on 21 September.[9] The final shooting schedule took place in Bangkok.[10][11] and principal photography wrapped on 12 October.[12] "Patchwork" filming and minor portions began later in the month.[13]

The music is composed by Ghibran.[14]
