Time is the fourth studio album[1] by English boy band Five. It was written and recorded during COVID-19.[2][3][4] It was released on 28 January 2022. It is their first studio album in 21 years[5][unreliable source?] and first to feature the band as a trio,[6] following the departures of Abz Love[7] and J Brown.

Background[edit]

For many years Five were hesitant to create new music for fear of competing with their former selves, but when the COVID-19 lockdown happened in 2020 and without possibility to do live shows, they told Heart UK they decided to turn a bad situation into something good and started to work on an album,[8] which was the first since Kingsize in 2001.

The first taste of new music was the remix of "Keep on Movin'" under the name "Keep on Movin' (21 Remix)". The remix replaces Abz' vocals with Scott's, while splitting J's vocals between the three of them. This was their first new recording released since taking part in the "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" charity cover single in 2013 for the ITV2 show The Big Reunion with proceeds going to various Text Santa charities while the single was credited to The Big Reunion Cast 2013.[9]

The following release was a double A side single "Shangri-La" and "Making Me Fall", the first officially released single to contain an original recording in 20 years. The next single was another double A side "Warm Light" and "Reset". The fifth single was "Time" which was revealed to also be the title of the new album.[10][11] The track "Lovable Rogue" was an early release for people who pre-ordered the album on Apple Music.

In an interview with NME Scott said of the album, "We're really happy with it and from my personal view, it's the album I'm proudest of."[12]

The album cover and some single covers along with some videos were made by graphic designer Lucie Selby.[13][14][15][16]
