Time Inc. was a major publisher of magazines and books founded in 1922 by Briton Hadden and Henry Luce as the publisher of the eponymous Time Magazine. It was an independent company until 1990, when it merged with Warner Communications to form Time Warner.

In 1968 Time Inc. expanded into books by purchasing Little, Brown and Company.[1] The company also expanded into music.
Merger with Warner Communications Inc.[edit]
On March 5, 1989, Time Inc. and Warner Communications Inc. announced they would merge to form Time Waarner.[2]
Subsequent fate[edit]
After the merger, many of the former TIme Inc. businesses continued to operate.
