Time to Help UK is a British Independent, secular, community-based aid and development (No 1160467)[1] charity founded in London, operating in the areas of poverty, disaster relief, and elimination of social injustice and persecution since 2013[2]. Time to Help UK runs projects across the UK and in the international arena, bringing aid to vulnerable people living in impoverished countries.

Recently, Time to Help UK appeared on the news with its fundraising campaign Walk4Water Challenge to raise awareness for water scarcity and funds to open water wells.[3]

History[edit]

Time to Help UK was founded by a group of businessman in London aiming to help people in desperate need across the world. With their worldwide network of partner and project offices in more than 20 countries, they reach needy people in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe with our emergency aid and development projects. Our help is supported by thousands of local helpers and coordinated by the international office in the UK. The headquarters of Time To Help UK is in London.

National Programmes[edit]

Homeless[edit]

Time to Help volunteers get ready to walk 6 km to raise awareness for the water scarcity in Africa.

Since 2016, Time to Help UK has given hot breakfast to the homeless every Monday. Hundreds of homeless participated during these breakfast days until the breakout of Covid-19. Then, it transformed the hot breakfasts into a weekly distribution of packed sandwiches to the homeless in front of the Westminster Cathedral with the participation of Time to Help UK volunteers and the partnership of Sant’Egidio. It continues to provide weekly food packages to the homeless in Central London.[4]

Refugee Help[edit]

Time to Help UK runs programmes to help asylum seekers and refugees facilitate their adaptation and integration into the country. Besides providing refugee mother-baby packages, they hold regular events to create a solid network among new arrivals.

Their most prominent project is in partnership with Axis Tuition Centre, Career School. It is a short-term course providing language and professional equivalency training for refugees and immigrants in the UK. The Career School specifically gives training in GCSE level English and Maths as well as OET and SQE exams for medics, lawyers, and teachers. With this project, more than 150 refugees and asylum seekers obtained their qualifications to work in their profession in the UK.[5]

International Programmes[edit]

Disaster Relief[edit]

Time to Help became one of the first responding charities to the Ukrainian conflict

by providing financial aid to those affected by the war at the beginning of 2022. It raised £7,000 in response to the recent flood disaster in Pakistan that has affected 33 million people and demolished thousands of houses. Along with its partners on the ground, it delivered basic needs, hygiene sets, food packages, tents, and clean water to the victims.[6]

Clean Water[edit]

Time to Help UK creates awareness and raises funds for building new water wells in various countries, including Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Chad, Ethiopia, and Pakistan. With over 100 newly built water wells, it has provided more than 10,000 people access to clean and safe drinking water. On 25th June 2022, it held its first-ever Walk4Water Challenge with 30 volunteers carrying 10L water for 5 km. This fundraising event raised £5,000, and 2 new water wells opened in Kenya.[7]

Orphan Care[edit]

With local partners, Time to Help UK delivers Share Your Happiness organisations for orphans in Uganda and Tanzania. Funded by individuals who donate to share their special days with orphans in Africa, donors sponsor birthday cakes, gift packages for children and food packages to the orphanage. Time to Help also built a new orphanage in Burundi. [8]

NFT Hope Drops Collection[edit]

In 2022, TTH UK launched NFT Hope Drops[9] Collection to raise funds for orphanage support and the opening of water wells. Characterised raindrops by orphan students in Uganda have been converted into NFT digital arts. TTH sold 2 artworks from the collection and built 2 water wells in Kenya.[10][11]

Hatch a Hope[edit]

Time to Help UK works to empower women in rural African communities. The Hatch a Hope campaign focuses on providing families with chicks to generate income. Based on the statistics, people in Africa live on a $2 daily income. TTH UK introduced the project for local families to generate £50 monthly revenue from poultry. It successfully continues to be the 30 families’ primary source of income.[12]

Pedal Effect[edit]

Pedal Effect started with the aim of facilitating the commute of African families in rural areas. By using a bike, TTH UK states that it provides 4 times faster transportation and carries more items to trade, bringing more family income and encouraging students to gain an education by providing 72% more attendance at school.[13]

Ramadan and Qurbani Appeals[edit]

During the festive seasons of the Muslim world, Time to Help UK distributes food packages and meat to the refugees and poorest communities struggling with hunger across the globe. In 2022 records, partner organisations on the ground have delivered food packages and meats to 25000 families.[14]

Events[edit]

Walk 4 Water[edit]

Time to Help volunteers get ready to walk 6 km to raise awareness for the water scarcity in Africa.

Walk4Water is an annual event dubbed as "a walk of empathy"[3] organised by Time to Help to raise awareness of water scarcity. On average, women and girls in developing countries walk 6 kilometres (approximately 3.5 miles) a day, carrying 20 litres (about 42 pounds/20 kgs) of water.[15] It is common for this journey to take more than 15 hours a week in some areas. Time to Help aims to build empathy with those struggling to fetch water and to raise funds for building new water wells by walking 6 km in city centre while carrying water cans. [16][17]
