TipSnaps is a monetization platform that allows content creators to sell social media content. It enables subscribers to fund content through recurring payments or single payments.[1] TipSnaps charges content creators a flat commission of 15%.[1][2] The service is geared towards mobile-first creators[3] such as Fitness Trainers, Beauty & Hair Influencers, Musicians, Culinary Experts and is also adult-friendly. TipSnaps is based in New York City.
History[edit]
TipSnaps was founded by company CEO Lyonel Dougé in 2017.[1][4][5][6] Before founding TipSnaps, Lyonel developed software for companies such as Sony Music and Viacom.[1] Though initially fully bootstrapped,[4] the company has brought on angel investors as of December 2020.
Business model[edit]
TipSnaps supports personal brand monetization without the use of advertisements or paid product endorsements and sponsorships.[2] Creators directly monetize exclusive videos, photos, and audio content.[5][3] Some content is only accessible through recurring subscription-based payments while other content can be accessed with one-time payments. To protect from leaks, TipSnaps does not allow subscribers to screenshot creators’ exclusive content.[2] Creators retain ownership of all materials published on TipSnaps.[2] TipSnaps also offers Tip Pools that allow subscribers to put their funds together for a single creator, which is ideal for crowdfunding creative projects.[2]
For most users, TipSnaps charges a commission of 15% per subscription or tip, but for users publishing “high-risk content,” the rate ranges from 20% to 25%.[7]
TipSnaps also offers creators tax verification features and tax filing resources to ensure that creators file taxes correctly and avoid tax issues with their earnings.[2] TipSnaps is also planning to release TipSnaps University, which features classes for creators on subjects such as filing taxes, promoting brands, and creating high quality visuals.[2]
