Tobia Zevi
Tobia Zevi (born October 15, 1983) is an Italian politician, author, and researcher.
Biography
Zevi has a PhD in History of the Italian Language, which he earned in 2012 from the Third University in Rome. He works at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies as an urban researcher. He was previously the president of the Roman Jewish youth organization, UGEI, and served on the board of the Jewish community of Rome.[1]
Career
In 2019 he was selected as a Global Fellow Eisenhower; in 2017 he was a Fellow in the US Government's “International Visitors Leadership Program” (IVLP).[2]
He has worked in Rome's political offices, including with Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was the political advisor to the President of the Province of Rome, Nicola Zingaretti. In the summer of 2020 he announced his candidacy for the mayoral seat in Rome,[3] as a member of the National Democratic Party in Italy.[4]
Zevi is a regular contributor to Italian newspapers and periodicals such as l'Unità, Il Foglio, Left, Avvenimenti, Huffingtonpost.it and Moked.it. [5][6]
In 2013, he released his book Giorgio's Speech. The Words and Thoughts of President Napolitano. (Donzelli).[7]
As president of the Italian Observatory,[8] Zevi founded a support line for those experiencing loneliness and depression during the coronavirus pandemic.[9]
Family
He is the grandson of Tullia Zevi, who was the leader of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities and a reporter for JTA after WWII. He is the son of Italian Architect, Luca Zevi.[1][10]
