Toby-Alexander Smith (born c. 1990)[1] is an English actor. Since March 2019, he has appeared as solicitor Gray Atkins in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.[2][3]

Life and career[edit]

Smith grew up in Lichfield, Staffordshire,[1] and attended the King Edward VI School, where he first became interested in theatre.[4] He performed in musical theatre with the Lichfield Garrick Youth Theatre and then toured with Opus Theatre Company.[4] Smith trained at the Arts Educational Schools, London,[1] while continuing to perform in theatre; he sang at the Laurence Olivier Awards in 2013 and 2014.[4] He joined the West End cast of Mamma Mia!, where he played Eddie and understudied the role of Sky.[4] Before beginning in EastEnders, he appeared in several other TV series: Berlin Station, Doctors, Flack and Krypton.[1][2]
