Tom Nolan (born 31 January 1999) is a freestyle footballer and content creator from Luton.[1] Tom is a signed Adidas Athlete and has featured in multiple global campaigns across their UK platforms.[2] He is best known for his viral football videos and online following of over 200,000 as of 2019 with over 35 million views across all social media platforms.[3]

Background[edit]

Tom briefly played youth football for Luton Town, although stopped playing at a young age unsure of a future in the professional game. Tom later decided to pursue Freestyle Football and his online career when he saw the opportunity arise after his first ever video went viral in his final year of high school back in 2015.[4] After developing his footballing skills for a number of years, Tom was invited to join an invite only network of young Adidas Football athletes in the London area known as the Adidas Tango Squad.[5]

In 2017, Tom made his official debut in a nationwide Adidas campaign which went live across the Adidas social media platforms kick starting his career.[6]

The same year, Tom teamed up with his boy hood idols F2 Freestylers for Adidas, filming his first major campaign alongside the freestyle duo, from then his online following started to grow.[citation needed] Tom has since featured in various campaigns for brands such as Adidas, EE, Manchester United F.C., TikTok and BBC Sport.[7]

Tom has travelled the world with his football skills, in 2018 he joined Manchester United F.C. on their pre season tour in Los Angeles with Adidas[8] He displayed his freestyle tricks and skills for the Manchester United F.C. first team and joined the Premier League side for training sessions in preparation for the season ahead.[9] Tom also attended multiple press events alongside the cub and can be seen featured in articles from the Daily Mail and on the official Manchester United F.C. website from his time on tour with the club.[10]

Tom was invited to attend the recent The Best FIFA Football Awards due to his influence in the online football community to be present as they awarded football stars from around the world the prestigious awards.[11] Others in attendance were the likes of Luka Modric, Eden Hazard, Mo Salah, Zidane and many other football legends.[citation needed]

He made his first major YouTube appearance back in 2017 alongside F2 Freestylers in the EE Wembley Cup representing F2 Freestylers team "Tekkers Town",[12] winning the freestyle duo Steven Gerrard to play on their team at Wembley stadium.[13]

His latest viral football trickshot was as recent as July 2019 and has been featured on Sky Sports, Soccer AM.[14] as well the largest community football page on Instagram with over 22 million followers. His feature has achieved more than 2.9 million views making it one of his most successful pieces of content to date. [15]
