Tommy Foster is a British racing driver, born and raised in Newquay, Cornwall (10th April 2002). From the age of 8 until 16, Tommy had a very successful karting career winning multiple English and British Championships, also putting it on Pole for the World Finals in Portugal in 2017.[1]
Career[edit]
He has raced across the Formula 4 platforms in the UK and USA, for Arden Motorsport[2] and Alliance Racing[3], with tremendous success (race wins, fastest laps, most overtakes).
Winning his first professional race[4][5] in the Barcelona round of Le Mans Cup[6], with co-driver Mike Benham.
Whilst testing at Croft Circuit in 2019 British Formula 4 , Foster struck a pheasant on his way back to the pits. Going at 170kph, the collision had a force of 288,000 Newtons. His Arai helmet took the brunt of the force as his visor wasn't locked in place.[7]
Sustaining only a headache, he was check for a concussion and cleared by the appropriate medical staff and able to race that weekend.
Outside of Racing[edit]
As part of the 2021 Monaco Formula One Grand Prix weekend, artist Mark Dickens [1] Tommy joined Formula One drivers Charles Leclerc, Antonio Giovinazzi, Esteban Ocon in creating a charity art piece[8] using Pirelli tyres to paint a canvas with motorsport themed designs. [9]
Working with Children's Hospice South West, Tommy donated prizes and attended gala balls with the support of Pirate FM presenters Lucy Start and Neil Caddy.[10] at the Eden Project.
Tommy has carried the endorsement of Albert II, Prince of Monaco on his helmet throughout his racing career.[11]
Karting Results[12][edit]
Competing independent from any big team, Tommy was a privateer. His father, Robin Foster, was his mechanic, and mother, Jane Hill, was on tyres and fuel.
Racing in the South West at Dunkerswell and Clay Pigeon Raceway, this is where most of his success and race wins came from.
