In 2019, Tone P co-founded "Don't Mute DC" with Ronald Moten, Tony Lewis Jr., and professor Natalie Hopkinson.[7] The movement sparked when a Metro PCS store owner named Donald Campbell played go-go music on speaker outside the store at 7th street Florida Avenue and new neighborhood residents constantly complained and harassed Donald where it eventually got around to T-Mobile. T-Mobile instructed the store owner to turn the music off which sparked an outrage with local Washingtonians that led to the birth of the Don't Mute DC movement while protecting and reigniting the indigenous GO-GO sound, now recognized by law as of 2020 as the official music of Washington, DC. Tone P in collaboration with legendary GOGO band Rare Essence, alongside famed local DC artists Lightshow, and Noochie released the song "#DontMuteDC".[8]
