Tophatter is an e-commerce marketplace, founded January 2012, by Ashvin Kumar (CEO) and Chris Estreich (CTO) in Palo Alto, CA. In 2017, Tophatter grossed over $300M in sales through its website and mobile apps.[1]
Tophatter is an online marketplace like Amazon, eBay, and Wish; however, Ashvin Kumar (CEO) likens it more to a next-generation QVC or Home Shopping Network — due to its auctions discovery shopping format.[2]
Tophatter's mission is to spark moments of fun and fulfillment.[3]
Funding[edit]
- 2011: Tophatter received an undisclosed Series A funding round.
- 2017: Tophatter announced its $21M Series B funding round on May 11, led by Goodwater Capital with participation from existing investors CRV, and August Capital.[4]
Growth[edit]
Tophatter ranked 408th in the Inc. 500.[5] It received honors in the Inc. 500 for ranking 25th in Top Consumer Products & Services companies and 7th in San Jose companies.[6] Deloitte featured Tophatter in the 2017 Technology Fast 500™ Winners, ranking 118th with a 3-year growth rate of 1,068%.[7] Tophatter generated over $300 million of GMV in 2017 (100% up from 2016).[8]
