Traffic Ramasamy is a 2018 Indian Tamil language biographical film directed by debutant Vicky.The film stars S.A. Chandrasekhar as Ramasamy, Rohini, Prakash Raj, R. K. Suresh and Ambika [1][2][3][4]. The film is slated to be released on 22nd June 2018[5]
Plot[edit]
Traffic Ramasamy is based on the life of Traffic Ramaswamy, a social activist and public interest litigator. He is the highest Public Interest Litigator filer in India who had filed more than 500 PIL's.[6][7][8]

Development[edit]
In 2016, Vicky an assistant director of S.A. Chandrasekhar read a book on "Traffic Ramasamy" a social activist and public interest litigator. He thought it would become a wonderful film and gave the book to S.A. Chandrasekhar who also got impressed and accepted to do the role of Traffic Ramaswamy. Vicky and Chandrasekar met Ramaswamy who instantly agreed to take the film and presented two hundred rupees as his contribution for the film.[16][17][18][19]
Then on consecutive meetings Chandrasekar spent time with Ramaswamy to observe his activities and mannerisms.[20][21][22] The film shoot started in December 2017 with S.A. Chandrasekhar as lead in and around Chennai.[23][24][25]
After the release of Kodi (film) in 2017, S.A.Chandrasekhar announced that he would play the role of a social activist in his next film titled Traffic Ramasamy directed by Vicky, a cinematographic biography of the social activist Traffic Ramaswamy. It would be produced by SAC himself. SAC said to reporters, "Traffic Ramasamy's actual image was intentionally distorted, maligned and reduced to a clown who goes on a sabotaging spree. His real identity has been deliberately kept away from the general public by politicians and officers. There is a lot more to him than you know. The heart of the story is inspirational, but it also has a lot of humour." [26]
Casting[edit]
In August 2017 Dheepa Ramanujam, Saranya Ponvannan, Tulasi were considered for the role of Ramasamy's on-screen wife. In September national award winning actress Rohini was cast as wife who did the adopted mother role of mahendra baahubali in the movie Baahubali.[27][28][29][30][31]
Filming[edit]
The shooting schedule of Traffic Ramasamy began in the local trains of chennai with S.A. Chandrasekhar and a coach full of junior artists. The film was mostly shot in the live locations of chennai.[32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42]

The filmmakers organise promotions in collabrative with public. The title design of the film was released on March in Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai among a crowd of more than three thousand students. The college where former president Dr.A.P.J Abdul kalam did his aerospace engineering. The students expressed their joy in releasing Traffic Ramasamy movie title in their campus.[47][48][49][50][51][52]
Film's First Single "Poraali Anthem" Released on 28 May 2018 and received huge support from social activists.
Marketing[edit]
The film teaser was released on May 8, 2018, by Mr.Sagayam IAS and went on to become #1 trending in YouTube within 10 hours of its release.Times Of India stated that the films teaser promises an intense drama revolved around the life of the activist.[53]
The makers released a promo song titled Poraali Anthem (Rebel Anthem) on May 28, 2018, which garnered positive reviews from public stating it as a energetic song which incoporated the recent protests held in tamilnadu.[54]
The second single titled Komaali Song was released on 04 June 2018. Which was telecasted in tamil news channels as well their websites for the bold political satire theme. [55]

In recent interview to Deccan Chronicle S.A. Chandrasekhar stated “I am ready to face any kind of threat for acting as the controversial social activist Traffic Ramasamy in the film with the same name. I have seen these political threats when I made my first film Sattam Oru Iruttarai.[56][57][58] Later, when I launched my next flick Neethikku Dhandanai (Punishment for Justice), a day after Karunanidhi was arrested in MGR’s regime, I was intimidated. Even MGR called me once to his Ramavaram Gardens,” revealed an unfazed SA Chandrashekar who also produces the film on the promo meet of Traffic Ramasamy.[59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70]
