Travis Hawley (born in the Austin, Texas, United States)[1]is an actor, influencer[2] professional Jiu Jitsu competitor, and United States Airman, best known for his commercials with Connor McGregor and uncovering a fake verification scam ring .[3] [4] [5] [6][7] [8][9] [10] [11] [12]
Education & Early Life[edit]
Hawley graduated from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA and later joined the United States Air Force.[13] [14]
Career[edit]
In September 2016, Hawley found viral success with his Walking Dead: Puppy Edition meme which accumulated over 66 million views, 1.4 million shares, and 3220,00 comments according to the Chicago Tribune.[13] [15] [16] [17]
In 2018, Hawley appeared in commercials with Conor McGregor for the video game Game of War: Prepare for War.[18] [13]
In 2019, Hawley was interviewed by The Atlantic about his run in with an underground illegal ring of fake Instagram verification services. The social experiment, which Hawley paid fake verification scammers to verify his Instagram account gained traction and was documented across multiple media outlets.[19] [20]
Jiujitsu Career[edit]
In January 2019, Hawley faced Jazz Ogilvie at Flograppling Fight to Win 135 as a Purple Belt, Hawley lost via decision to Ogilvie. Competitors were paid out $31,029 in commissions. [8] [21] [22] [23]
