Treasure (Korean: 트레저; Japanese: トレジャー) stylized as TREASURE, is a South Korean boy group formed by YG Entertainment in 2019 through reality survival program YG Treasure Box and will be the company's newest boy group since iKON in 2015.[1] The group, originally called Treasure 13, The one of the Members of Treasure will be announced that officially leaving YG and his Group, This 2020, Treasure consists of 12 members this is Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshinori, Junkyu, Mashiho, Jaehyuk , Asahi, Yedam, Haruto, Doyoung, Jeongwoo and Junghwan. The original debut year and date of Treasure was on May 2019, however YG later announced that Treasure will be debut on August 7, 2020.[2]

Before 2018: Predebut[edit]
Junkyu started as a child advertising model in 2010, namely for brands Lotte and Roygen Suits. Yedam appeared on SBS' K-pop Star 2 in 2012 finishing runner-up behind his labelmate Akdong Musician. At a young age, Junghwan joined one of the world's leading taekwondo demonstration team named K-Tigers. In January 2017, Mashiho took on his first acting role through labelmate Akdong Musician's musical short film: 사춘기 : 겨울과 봄 사이 . On November 21, 2017 Jihoon, Yedam and Doyoung alongside other YG Entertainment trainees at the time appeared on Mnet's Stray Kids as representatives for the label. Within the same period, Hyunsuk and Junkyu competed on JTBC's MixNine, the show was producted by YGEntertaiment and then finishing in 5th and 35th spots respectively.
2018-2019: Treasure Box and Treasure 13[edit]
Treasure was formed from an entertainment television show called "YG Treasure Box" which aired from November 2018 to January 2019.[3] In the show boys compete for a spot in a boy band represented by YG Entertainment.[4]
On November 17, 2018 YG Entertainment unveiled 29 trainees through YG Treasure Box. Haruto, Yedam, Junghwan and Junkyu were first to join the final line-up, followed by Jeongwoo, Jaehyuk and Hyunsuk under the group name Treasure. On January 29, 2019 an announcement for a second line-up was disclosed with Yoonbin, Mashiho, Doyoung, Yoshi, Jihoon and Asahi under the name Magnum. The two groups are collectively called "Treasure 13". Before the debut, a series of promotional posters for the group were released from April 29, 2019 onwards. On January 6, 2020, an announcement was made with regards to Yoonbin leaving the YG Entertainment.
In late May 2019, Choi Hyunsuk featured on Lee Hi's song "1,2" off her 24°C album, where he participated as a lyricist. On episode 2 of labelmate Kwon Hyun-bin's reality show Kwon Hyun-bin Begins, Haruto and Hyunsuk made a short appearance, followed appearances by Junkyu, Yedam, Hyunsuk, Junghwan and Haruto on episode 3.
The boy band was set to debut in 2019, but YG Entertainment had a string of scandals that led to the CEO's resignation.[5] YG Entrainment announced that the boy band is set to debut in July 2020.[6][7]
2020: Treasure debut[edit]
Previously known as Treasure 13, Treasure is made of the members: Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshinori, Junkyu, Mashiho, Jaehyuk , Asahi, Yedam, Haruto, Doyoung, Jeongwoo and Junghwan. It was announced Yoon-bin left TREASURE and YG Entertainment to pursue a solo career in January 2020.[8]
On January 6, 2020, YG Entertainment announced that the group will debut as a 12-member team because of departure member Ha Yoonbin terminated his contract with the label on December 31, 2019 to pursue a different musical direction nearing closer to a solo career. Thus both groups were merged and now collectively to be called Treasure, with fandom name Treasure Maker, derived from the name viewers were given of YG Treasure Box. On the same day, YG Entertainment launched the official social media accounts such as Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and VLive. The official Twitter, Instagram and Vlive accounts began to release photos every two weeks, both individual and group with the name of 'Treasure Editorial.
The group also launched a weekly show on YouTube called ‘Treasure Map' starting on January 17, 2020 which is uploaded every Friday at 12:00PM KST and have 28 eps in total as debut come near. The show features the group’s daily activities which they call ‘T-Log’ and also play various games based on famous Korean variety shows. Aside from the weekly Treasure Map episodes, the group also uploads dance performance videos, song covers, TMI (Treasure Maker Interaction), Fact Check, 3-Minute Treasure and T-Talk.
