Treat Myself is the upcoming third major-label studio album by American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor. The album was originally scheduled for release on August 31, 2018, but was delayed due to Trainor wanting to add more songs.[1] On January 7, 2019, the album preorder was removed from iTunes and Apple Music. There is currently no release date. Treat Myself was preceded by the release of five songs, including the four singles "No Excuses", "Let You Be Right", "Can't Dance" and "All the Ways". The album is believed to have been shelved by Epic Records and was removed from her website. On February 4, 2019 Meghan announced an EP will be released before the album, and will feature the single "All The Ways".
Background and writing[edit]
On delaying the album, Trainor stated in August 2018: "I'm in such an amazing place and I can't stop writing songs... I've decided to move my new album Treat Myself until I get everything out of my head and recorded in the studio."[1] In November 2018, Trainor stated that she had worked with Sasha Sloan and Lennon Stella on a track for the album titled "Working On It", which she called "about loving yourself and just trying".[2]
The album has been characterized as "filled with self-love anthems".[3] Billboard called the title track a "bass-driven, fun-loving song that is the perfect soundtrack to any night out" and a "shimmering tune".[4]
Singles[edit]
The lead single from the album, titled "No Excuses", was released on March 1, 2018. It is a pop song with country influences, described as a sexism-blasting empowerment anthem.[5][6][7] The song debuted at number 46 on the US Billboard Hot 100. On May 10, 2018, "Let You Be Right" a Nu-disco song, was released as the second single from the album, followed by "Can't Dance" a day later.[8][9] "All the Ways", initially released as the first promotional single from the album on June 20, 2018,[10] will be serviced to hot adult contemporary radio as the fourth single from the album on February 11, 2019.[11]
Promotional single[edit]
The album's title track was released as the second promotional single on July 20, 2018.[4]
