Trevor Abrahmsohn
Trevor Abrahmsohn (born 27 July 1954) is an estate agent specialising in trophy properties in the north west London corridor. He is of South African descent and has been labelled ‘Mr. Bishops Avenue’ (Telegraph, November 2008) for selling majority of the houses on The Bishops Avenue, and is listed as one of the top five London selling agents in Spears Wealth Magazine (2018) and the recipient of the Spear's and LonRes’ Lifetime Achievement Awards (2012).
A subject matter expert on real estate in London, Abrahmsohn has been featured in or interviewed for the Evening Standard,[1] City A.M.,[2] Financial Times,[3] Business Insider,[4] and more.
Early life[edit]
Left South Africa for London in 1961, Abrahmsohn was educated at Quintin Grammar School, St John's Wood, London, growing up and living in the area. His father, Sidney, a dentist and his mother, Zena, a beautician. His brother, Glenn, a maxillofacial dental surgeon in Key Biscayne, Florida and the name ‘Glentree’ is an anagram of his name and Trevor's.
He left Guy's Hospital Dental School, in 1974 and joined Gilland Residential Estate Agency, St John's Wood, in October 1974.
Career[edit]
1976: He founded Glentree Estates, a residential agency dealing with properties along the NW postcode area London corridor. The first £1million home in the capital was sold in 1976.
1986: Floated Glentree plc on the USM as Founder and CEO. The shares rose from 16p on flotation to £4.50 each, within six months. David Thompson (former Chairman and founder of Premier Foods) became the largest shareholder and Chairman. At the time, the Company had a market capitalisation, in today's terms, of £200million.
Glentree plc acquired a number of synergic companies including: Anthony Green & Spencer (commercial estate agents); Goldschmidt & Howland (residential estate agents); Ramon Green's Spencer Group (to include: Spencer Construction, Spencer Developments etc.) and the plc group bid for the Henderson Residential Portfolio (£40million) and were in the midst of a reverse takeover by the Berkeley Group Holdings which would have transformed the proforma business into a £300million combined group but this was thwarted by the crash of the late 1980s.
During the recession of the 1990s, the name of the company was changed from Glentree plc to Union Square plc. The late Mark McCormack of IMG, bought a 30% stake in the Company when it was transformed into a golf management and ownership vehicle, before it was finally privatised in 1992.
1992: Glentree Estates led to Glentree International to reflect its global reach.
1998: Founded Glentree New Homes which, today, has the most comprehensive portfolio of new homes, (exceeding 500 flats and houses across 30 schemes) along the north west NW postcode area London corridor.
2000: Abrahmsohn became a Board Director of Primelocation (an estate agents’ collective online portal venture) which was sold to DMGT in 2005, for £48million.
2000: He became joint Founder and Chairman of agents’ collective, REAP (Residential Estate Agents Publisher) which created Fabric, a property, glossy lifestyle magazine, with 50 residential estate agent shareholders, distributed from Mayfair to Hampstead/Kenwood and beyond.
2010: He co-founded OnTheMarket, an agents’ collective online portal and the third largest in the UK. He was a main Board Director of the Company, before flotation in 2018, to form a £100million quoted company.
Currently: CEO of Glentree Group.
