Trevor Grant (born June 10, 1984) is a Chicago based American author, speaker, and open source community leader.
Trevor Grant (born June 10, 1984) is a Chicago based American author, speaker, and open source community leader. He is a member of the Apache Software Foundation, a combat veteran of the War in Afghanistan (2001–present), and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, a Masters of Science in Applied Mathematics, and a Masters of Business Administration from Illinois State University.
He is a member of the Apache Software Foundation, serves as the PMC chair for Apache Mahout, was awarded various medals from a tour of Afghanistan, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, a Masters of Science in Applied Mathematics, and a Masters of Business Administration from Illinois State University. Open Source[edit]
Trevor is a member of The Apache Software Foundation, and currently servers as the assistant treasurer.[4] He is also the Project Mentorship Committe (PMC) chair for Apache Mahout [5] He was responsible for spearheading initiatives such as integrating Mahout with Apache Zeppelin and creating a prepackage algorithm framework. He also has done considerable work evangelizing Mahout including multiple talks and articles.[6] He is also a PMC member of Apache Streams, and Apache Community Development.
Trevor also has done a great deal to evangelize Kubeflow, including writing a peer reviewed use case[7] and Kubeflow for Machine Learning: From Lab to Production for O'Reilly Media[8]
Political Activity[edit]
In 2019, Trevor ran for Alderman in Chicago Illinois' 1st Ward, but withdrew from the race before election day.[9][10]
Military Service[edit]
In 2008, Trevor deployed with the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (United States) as part of Task Force Phoenix[11] as a combat medic to a Police Mentoring Team in Zhari district of Kandahar, Afghanistan.[12]
