Tri Sigma Phi (TΣФ) or commonly known as Trivals.
It was founded in the year 1997 at Pagadian City, Philippines. The Trivals practices the tradition of the past and is dedicated to the pursuit of Brotherhood and Sisterhood. The fraternity's/sorority's encourages its fellow members to participate in any community services and activities wherever they exist.
History
The Trivals was founded in the capital city of the Zamboanga del Sur Province [1] (Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines) on the 17th day of September, 1997.
Founding Name
Way back in April 1997, it was headed by a group of friends which started with a simple expression as Katribo (it means one or member of the Tribe). They called each other as Magulang (elder brother/sister) and Manghod (younger brother/sister). They called themselves TRIVALS from the word tribal, changing the letter "B" to "V". On September 17, 1997, Brod Eric Paul "Bangkay" Benida suggested and convinced Brod Canary "Fox" Palabrica about the formation of the Tri Sigma Phi. Brod Fox called for an urgent meeting to decide on Brod Bangkay's suggestion, and it was agreed to formally transform their friendship into Tri Sigma Phi fraternity/sorority with Brod Rene "Ren" Lastra, Brod Jojo "Jo" Cabrera and the other four members representing the eight founding members (8 Archons).
Early Years
In the first month after founding, the Tri Sigma Phi did not recruit many new members due to a lack of confidence. When Brod Jojo decided to open the recruitment to Third and Fourth year High School students, the name of the fraternity/sorority became well-known in all schools in Pagadian City. Brod Rene and Brod Jojo recruited at Pagadian Junior College [2], Brod Bangkay and Sis Chanda at Zamboanga del Sur National High School. The recruitment was successful, and they gained hundreds of members in just a month.
There were many efforts in the beginning to establish chapters in other schools. In 1998 Brod Jojo attempted to open seven (7) chapters in Pagadian City, until the adjacent municipalities also established their own chapters. Brod Jojo was responsible for the events, activities and community services.
