Inspired by the fraternal movement in the US, in the Philippines, recruitment of fraternity in school campuses was similarly selective. Students who were prominent in the campus, possess high ideals, exhibit leadership skills and academic excellence were the prime subject of fraternity recruitment. The Lambda Beta Phi Fraternity and Sorority pride itself to be one among the few Filipino-based fraternity that traced its roots to Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Early members ritualistically marked via branding their left hands to herald defiance of pain and to show they were one and united - distinct from the others. Regardless of their social status, they endured the pain to iron out equality among them.

Born from their minds was the most painful fact why they hurt each other when they were already best of friends. Bro Dick and Paul understood that pain that doesn't kill them will make them harder and stronger. They understood how they feel towards each other and they understood that the process was necessary to carve a deeper sense of brotherhood amongst them. And so they crushed each other's pride tormenting themselves without giving each one the opportunity to retaliate. A deep sense of humility was cast in that deafening silence of agony and pain. It was from that silence that the song "I Understand" was adopted.

Then they manifested a handshake that demonstrated a best grip to tow a fallen comrade. Bro Paul explained the handshake signifies help in times of need and danger. They patented the four-cornered dots of tattoo above the burnt that signifies equality and high sense of responsibility. Bro Dick recalled the four cornered figure tattoo epitomize a well balanced stance which also symbolized equality. They coined a passionate password that would challenge every member to rise when peace is threatened and when liberty is suppressed.

The Lambda Beta Phi was among the first Filipino fraternity born in the University of Bohol campus and one of the few in the Philippines. The birth of our fraternity was preceded by other Filipino raised fraternities and sororities in schools and universities.

After years of existence, the Lambda Beta Phi, a humble Filipino-based Fraternity produced thousands of professionals. lawyers, academe, soldiers , policemen and even politicians all over the country today. It also has members occupying different key positions in the government and has members residing in the United States and other parts of the globe.
