Tsyganenko Magnetic Field Model

The Tsyganenko model is a semi-empirical best-fit representation for the magnetic field and is based on a large number of satellite observations. The model includes the contributions from external magnetospheric sources.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11].

International Geomagnetic Reference Field Model

Tsyganenko model is different than the International Geomagnetic Reference Field Model (IGRF). IGRF was introduced by the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA) in 1968 in response to the demand for a standard spherical harmonic representation of the Earth's main field. The model is updated at 5-yearly intervals[12]. Data for the IGRF can be found on a NOAA website[13][14]
