Tuan Pham
Tuan Pham, DDS is an American dentist, author, and dental educator based in Austin, Texas. He founded Dental Maverick, a practice management training platform for private practice dentists, and created Dental Maverick Summit, a live continuing education event hosted in Austin, and focused on the business side of dentistry. Tuan Pham semi-retired from dentistry in February 2025 following a 20-year career in private practice. He continues to focus on dental business education, consumer and patient education along with the development of AI-powered software for the dental industry.
Early life and education
Pham earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. He began his clinical career in Austin, Texas, where he eventually established his private family practice in South Austin.[citation needed]
Clinical career
Pham practiced family and general dentistry in Austin, Texas for over 20 years before semi-retiring from clinical practice in February 2025. His private practice model and patient communication style became the basis of his dental business education programs and published works.[1]
Dental Maverick
In February 2011, Pham founded Dental Maverick, a training platform designed to help dentists master the business side of dental practice.[2] The program focuses on communication skills, management, and leadership principles. He obtained a copyright in 2017 for the material presented in Dental Maverick (Registration Number: TX0008458285).[3] The platform has been used by hundreds of dental professionals across the United States and around the world.[citation needed]
Pham is also the creator and host of the Dental Maverick Summit, an annual live continuing education event focused on the business aspects of dentistry.[1]
Dental Maverick AI
Following his retirement from clinical practice, Pham developed Dental Maverick AI, an artificial intelligence software platform designed to assist dental practices with insurance-related administrative duties in regards to insurance verification, insurance eligibility, claims processing and claims follow up. The platform aims to reduce time consuming and repetitive tasks in dental offices by automating and streamlining insurance workflows.[4]

Pham is the author of multiple books on dental practice management and consumer / patient dental health, including Is Your Dentist Lying,[citation needed] Dental Maverick Q&A,[citation needed] Dental Maverick Dental Systems Manual,[citation needed] and Success, Profitability & Destiny Begins with You.[citation needed] The Dental Maverick Q&A received an independent review rating of B+ from Practice Biopsy, a dental training program for recently graduating dentists,[5] and reached #1 in the dental office management category on Amazon.[citation needed]
In 2007, Pham co-authored a study with Nasser Barghi published on the cover of Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry (Vol. 28, No. 7, July 2007), a peer-reviewed clinical journal.[citation needed]
Recognition and awards
Pham was named one of Incisal Edge magazine's "40 Under 40 — America's Best Young Dentists" in 2018 and was featured on the cover of the publication.[6][7] Incisal Edge is a nationally distributed dental lifestyle magazine published by Benco Dental.[citation needed]
Pham was featured as a "Top Townie" along with an office profile in the October 2017 print edition of Dentaltown magazine, one of the largest dental professional publications in the United States.[8] He is also ranked among the top five most-followed users on Dentaltown out of more than 235,000 registered members.[citation needed]
