Tulsi Kumar Bhagat (Nepali: तुलसी कुमार भगत; born 15 April, 1999) is a blogger, Wikipedian, Internet and social activist[1] known for co-founding the Maithili Wikipedia.[2][3][4] He received an honor Featured Wikimedian of the Month from Wikimedia India.[2] His profile has been featured on the occasion of 20 years of Wikipedia by the Wikimedia Foundation on its birthday web hub.[5][6]

Personal life & Education[edit]

Bhagat lives in Janakpur, son to Satrudhan Bhagat grew up and completed his primary education in Rajbiraj.[7] He completed 10+2 in Management faculty.[4] He is pursuing for his bachelor degree in Business Studies at Model Multiple College.[1]

Wikimedia movement[edit]

Bhagat started editing Wikipedia in 2014 at the age of 15 when he was in high school.[2][2] In November 2014, he helped launch the Maithili Wikipedia.[3] In 2015, he took part in 1st anniversary celebration event of Maithili Wikipedia in Rajbiraj.[8]

In 2018, he attended Train the trainer 2018 by Centre for Internet and Society India in Bangalore.

He is co-ordinator of Wiki Awareness Campaign in Nepal under which The Billboards Initiative began in two different cities of Nepal, Biratnagar and Janakpur.[9][10] Also, he spearheaded the Wiki For COVID-19 project to combat misinformation and confront the pandemic with reliable, fact-checked information on Wikipedia.[11] Moreover, he involved in organizing projects such as Wikicamp Nepal 2018, Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos Campaign[12] and Wiki Loves Folklore.

Bhagat is serving as an administrator of the Nepali Wikipedia since 2016.[13] He has made over 23,000 edits as of June 2022 on the Nepali Wikipedia.[13]
