Tuney John is known as a Publicity Designer. Some of his work includes Pushpa and Captain Miller who has designed many movie posters in the South Indian film industry. He has already designed posters for Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films. Saroja made her foray into Tamil cinema as a designer through EM&C for the posters of Mangatha, Co. Later on, Ratnam officially became an independent designer with the film.

Personal life[edit]

Tuney John has been making huge strides in Kollywood. A sought-after designer, he has created posters for more than 90 films in Tamil. His first was Venkat Prabhu’s Saroja. Ask him how it all began, he says, “I didn’t plan anything. While studying at Bharat Matha College, Thrikkakara, our batch conducted an inter-college fest, for which I did all the design work. Everyone appreciated them and said I had the potential to become a good designer. Further, I studied at SAE College in Chennai, from where I became friends with Alphonse, Rajesh Murugeshan, and Sabareesh Varma (Neram’s music director and singer respectively). Initially, I worked with some agencies and did some freelancing too.” Tunney now has his own ad agency ‘24am’ in Chennai.

Career[edit]

The fan boy of Rajinikanth -starrer Ajith Kumar's MagVijay’s Jilla, Dhanush's Captain Miller, SivaKarthikeyan's Don, Suriya's Anjaan, Karthik’s Madras, Siddharth’s Jigarthanda, Ko and Simbu’s Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya are some of his noticeable works. His latest work is the refreshing poster for Alphonse Puthren’s This is Tuney’s second Malayalam poster and his second with Alphonse after his debut film Neram. The first look poster of Premam.

24am, a Chennai-based agency founded by Tuney John, showed us some promise after it caught our attention with the posters for Jigarthanda. For some context, in Tamil Nadu, cinema fans can tend to be fanatics, many literally worship their film stars. Though the industry has evolved, it is prolonged and still too commercial for designers to have much of a free hand here. But cutting away from this is the youthful creativity of Tuney.[1]
