The Turkvision Song Contest 2019 (Turkish: Türkvizyon Şarkı Yarışması 2019) is expected to be the long-awaited fourth edition of Turkvision Song Contest, and will be organised by TMB TV after three years of cancellations. Twenty-seven Turkic regions, which have either a large Turkic population or a widely spoken Turkic language, have confirmed their participation in the contest. Austria, Latvia, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Stavropol Krai and Sweden are expected to make their debut, while Bashkortostan, Crimea, Khakassia and Albania are to return after a three-year absence. Reportedly, Azerbaijan has withdrawn after participating at every previous edition while Sandžak will not debut after initially confirming participation for the failed 2016 contest, but no source has been given for each.
Format[edit]
Unlike the 2015 edition which had no semi-final stage,[1] because of the withdrawals from several Russian states from the contest due to the international relations between the Russian Federation and Turkey in 2015,[2] the 2017 edition was to consist of one semi-final and a grand final taking place on 29 and 31 August 2017, but was cancelled on 20 October 2017. For the 2019 contest, there will be just one show, with no semi-finals.[3] It is currently unknown if the participating countries will still send the songs they would've competed with had the previous contests not been cancelled or if they will submit new songs.
