Tyler Wilkinson, Imperial Count of Neersen is an American-German nobleman who holds the hereditary feudal titles of nobility of Imperial Count of Neersen (Reich-Graf von Neersen in German), Baron of Neersen, and Lord of Neersen.

Personal Life[edit]

Wilkinson was born and raised in the upstate region of New York State. He currently resides in Washington state with his husband, Douglas, whom he married in June of 2019. By virtue of custom and as a courtesy, his spouse is also referred to as the consort of the title.

Titles and Succession[edit]

Wilkinson holds the titles of Imperial Count of Neersen, Baron of Neersen, and Lord of Neersen. In the aftermath of the fall of the German Empire in 1919, nobility as a legal class was abolished in Germany. However, the Weimar Constitution allowed for the conversion of noble titles into parts of the legal surname. For individuals with German ancestry, these titles can be revived or claimed through a legal and sometimes complex process of genealogical research, documentation, and legal arbitration. Though the titles hold no formal standing within the German state, they serve instead as a historical and familial legacy. In Wilkinson's case, his ancestral claim to the titles of Imperial Count of Neersen, Baron of Neersen, and Lord of Neersen was awarded and upheld following arbitration between his Solicitors and the Spanish Heraldic Register on December 12th, 2022.[1] As delineated in the documents upholding Wilkinson's claim, his titles may only be transmitted to his heirs, and only in accordance with the rules of succession mortis causa. In the absence of direct issue, his successor is his brother, Timothy Riordan, who is thus the Heir Presumptive to Wilkinson's titles.
