Tyrone Leon Francis, MBE (born May 14, 1972) is a British-American corporate governance and business executive[1] based in London, United Kingdom. Francis recently co-founded his second Welsh diaspora network, Los Angeles Welsh[2], following New York Welsh, which was founded in 2017.[3] In 2017, Charles, Prince of Wales, appointed Francis as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services of promoting business in Wales.[4]

Career[edit]

In 2007, Francis relocated to New York City to become publisher of Corporate Secretary Magazine.[5] He then moved to the New York Stock Exchange in 2012 as Vice President of its Governance Services division.[6] In 2014, Francis rang the NYSE opening bell with The Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister of Wales to promote foreign investment for Wales.[7] The following year, Francis and Jones rang the closing bell, this time accompanied by Welsh actor Michael Sheen.[8] He went on to be Executive Vice President of Global Programs at the Ethisphere Institute.[9] In 2017, Francis was appointed chief global business development officer by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS).[10] Most recently, Francis became an advisor for Prince Andrew, Duke of York’s "Pitch@Palace" initiative.[3] Francis has also served as an Advisory Board member of Women In The Boardroom, a company that helps advance women into the C-Suite and Boardrooms.[11]

Community[edit]

In March 2019, Francis and New York Welsh sponsored a girls' football team in Wales as part of a global initiative called Sponsor Our Club [12]. The non-profit Club asks ex-patriots of Wales to sponsor the underfunded girls' in football and rugby.

Media[edit]

Francis is a co-host of the Inside Americas Boardrooms show filmed at New York Stock Exchange in New York City.
