History[edit]

UENI was founded in 2014 by Harvard graduates Christine Telyan and Anh Pham Vu. UENI is a start-up that created significant coverage in the British media when it partnered with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to get small businesses online. [1] At the start of 2019, the total employment in small and medium-sized businesses in the UK was 16.6 million, accounting for 60% of total employment. [2] Christine Telyan was interviewed by the BBC's Business Live Show in 2019 to explain how UENI was trying to help small businesses get online [3]. In 2019, the company was active in the US, Mexico, India, and Spain.

In 2015, the company gained its first investment of $1.95 million from angel investors. As of 2019, the company has raised a total of $30 million in funding.[4] In 2019, UENI participated in the Local Business Week, which promotes buying from local British companies. [5] Until 2020, the company had built over 600,000 websites for small businesses. [6] In 2021, Christine Telyan was mentioned as one of the top 32 female tech leaders in the UK.[7]
